Travel Tours: how to plan a trip abroad

Travel Tours: Putting it into Practice
travel tours
There are options when it comes to where to book tours. My preference is a travel tour distributor called Victor, a subsidiary of TripAdvisor. The website is easy to use, with clear list of tour inclusions and exclusions, cancellation policies and user reviews. On my first visit to Beijing, I came up with a prioritized shortlist:

  •  Great Wall of China
  •  The Olympic Site
  •  The Forbidden City
  •  Tiananmen Square
  • Temple of Heaven or Summer Palace Temple of Heaven or Summer Palace (optional)

I mapped out the attractions from our hotel in Wangfujing. The Great Wall is a great tour candidate since it is a 90 minutes’ drive from our hotel. The Olympic site is also a good tour candidate since it involves multiple subway transfers. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are walkable destinations, and the Temple of Heaven is easily accessible by subway, so I crossed them off the list. The Summer Palace is another potential tour candidate given its distance from the hotel.
Browsing through Viator, I searched by keywords Mutianyu Great Wall, Olympic sites, Summer Palace and got back some matches. A few of the tour options have shopping stops, with one packaged as a tea ceremony activity. We decided to skip them. I ended up having to decide between a small group tour or a private tour. The pricing was not materially significant between the two choices, so I picked the private tour for a more personalized experience.

I booked the tour and voila, that’s it for the tour selection process!
